Raising a happy and behaviorally healthy family dog can be an overwhelming process these days. I'm so glad you've taken the pro-active first step of seeking out professional help for you and your pup.
There is so much information out there and, let's face it, dogs are raised and behave differently than they did even just 25 years ago. Then again, we're pretty different these days too.
My hope is that I can help you really understand your dog, meet him where he's at, and use the technology available to us as a tool to help, not hurt, your training and learning process
I offer multiple ways to support you and your dog on your training and behavior journey
With one of the private coaching and training programs, you’ll understand your dog better, hear what he’s been trying to tell you, and learn to advocate for his needs, as well as your own. You’ll also feel supported in the process, and know you have somewhere to go when questions and concerns inevitably arise.
You’re in the right place. I can’t wait to get you started!

My name is Laura Gendron. I've been working with dogs and their parents professionally since 2008 and while I'm passionate about many aspects of the behavioral world, there's nothing that light me up more than helping shy dogs come out of their shell so they can learn to experience the world with more joy and curiosity.
Professionally, I'm a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Licensed Family Dog Mediator, and a Fear Free Certified Professional. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and an Associate's Degree in Animal Science from UNH. I spent 10 years working in a Veterinary Hospital and many years working in the rescue and shelter world. Currently, I offer Virtual and In-Person Coaching and Training for you and your family dog, and am based out of Northwood, NH but am able to offer services far beyond NH.
The dog training industry is an unregulated one and one where anyone can call themselves a trainer and charge for their services. It's important to me that I went through accreditation both so that I could feel good about offering my services and so that I could feel that I am staying up to date on the most recent studies and educational opportunities offered. As a positive trainer who uses humane and force free methods, I pride myself on being able to meet dogs and dog parents where they're at and work only within their comfort zone, so as to not add more stress to anyone's life.

I'm also a self-proclaimed "behavior nerd", with a love for teaching, podcast-obsessed, a mom of two human children, a wife, a creative entrepreneur, a community networker, a social introvert, and a lifetime learner. I am constantly seeking and implementing ways to teach you how to better your life with your four-legged companion, in a way that supports your learning style and your dog's needs.
If you struggle with the day-to-day understanding of your dog and need to find ways to make life with your dog good for both of you so your relationship can blossom, I would love to help. I hope to be part of you and your dog's team!
Private Coaching and Consulting Options
How the program works:
1. Reach out via the contact form:
This is how I first get to know you, your dog, and the type of help you are looking for. If I don't offer what you are seeking, I'll refer you to a colleague who does or direct you to an accredited organization where you can begin to do a search in your area.

2. Schedule Your Virtual Consult
If things seem like a good fit, we will start with a 90-minute Virtual Behavior Consultation on Zoom where we go in depth about your goals, your dog's history, what behavior struggles you're having, and a plan to set your dog up for long term success through enrichment, management, and behavior modification. This session is recorded for you to watch back later.
Investment: $185
You will be emailed the virtual consult link by email.

3. Fill out the Behavior History Form
Once you have scheduled your consult, you will receive a link to a Behavior History Form. It's important that you fill this out with as much detail as possible so I have a good starting point for your goals and your dog's needs. This way, I'll have a good idea about what's going on before we meet. This will shorten the initial history taking process considerably and we can jump right into setting up a plan to get you started.
The correct form will be sent to you via email, upon confirmation of your consult appointment.

4. Watch for your Behavior Plan Summary & Recommendations
After our consultation, you will receive a behavior plan and summary of the consult. This is where I will summarize your dog's learning history, environment, genetics, and needs for self. You will also receive a plan for immediate management recommendations and skills to work on at home to set your dog up for success in behavior modification.
This will be sent via Google Docs to your email

FAQs
What if I'm not comfortable with Zoom or technology?
If it's a matter of comfort but you're open minded to the idea, I would be happy to help. However, if you are opposed to learning, I would be happy to refer you to someone who works primarily in-person. This is the way I have chosen to run my services but I understand that it's not for everyone

Don't you need to see my dog's problem behavior in order to help?
Nope! It's never a good idea to set your dog up to have the problem behavior in order for me to see it and therefore help you. I've been working with behavior cases for a long time and very likely have already seen the behavior, and I believe you. I will, however, sometimes ask you to get a home camera so that footage of your day to day experiences with your dog can be sent to me, without having to set your dog up to fail

Can you train my dog for me?
While I understand the temptation to drop off your dog and have him come back all trained for you, unfortunately, much of our dog's behavior is relationship and trust based so while I could likely get your dog to trust me and work for me, that doesn't help your relationship.
I believe in helping both of you find common ground, in order to help you meet each other's needs. Occasionally, I'm happy to offer Day Training Sessions to take some of the skill-building burden off you, but most of the behavior plan will involve you!

What is your availability like?
I have two school-aged children at home and try to remain present for them when they're home and at sports. For this reason, most of my availability is during school hours, but that's why I have varied training options and the ability to schedule a virtual session if someone gets sick or there is a last minute change. Weekends and weeknights do occasionally become available but weekdays are the priority.
