Want to help your dog but wish you had more time to work with him during the day?

Ever wish someone could train your dog for you?
Modern day life is pretty crazy and while it's still important to take the time to work with your dog, I can take a little burden off your plate.
This program is designed to meet you where you're at and give your dog extra training and enrichment opportunities while you're busy at work and life.

Raising a happy and behaviorally healthy family dog can be an overwhelming process.
Often, with the best intentions, we bring a dog into our life and then quickly become overwhelmed with all the training and behavior help that modern dogs need. That, coupled with all the other demands on us, quickly leads us to feeling guilty and in over our heads with meeting our dogs needs while also managing all other parts of day to day life.

While it's extremely important that you take the time to work with your dog so he can learn to listen to YOU and so you can learn to listen to HIM, it's also okay to hand over the reigns to a professional you can trust.
Here is where I'll meet you halfway. I can get your dog started on the life skills needed and then transfer the skills over to you and your family. In the meantime, I'll coach you on how to manage behaviors in your home, be able to give you tips based on your individual dog as I get to know him, and offer support as needed, along the way.

This program is a combination of:
  • Coaching for you and your family
  • Training and Enrichment for your dog
  • On-Demand virtual learning
  • Video training records
  • Private messaging support
  • Community group of peers

You can feel better knowing that you’re moving forward with the support and understanding you are probably looking for.
Space is extremely limited and this in-person training is only offered in the Northwood NH area. If location or needs don't end up being the right fit, we can still move forward with other forms of virtual coaching and support. Either way, you’re in the right place.
I can’t wait to get you started!

My name is Laura Gendron. I've been working with dogs and their parents professionally since 2008 and while I'm passionate about many aspects of the behavioral world, one specific thing I love is to be able to take some burden off the pet parent.

Professionally, I'm a Certified Professional Dog Trainer, Licensed Family Dog Mediator, and a Fear Free Certified Professional. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, and an Associate's Degree in Animal Science from UNH. I spent 10 years working in a Veterinary Hospital and many years working in the rescue and shelter world. Currently, I offer Virtual and In-Person Coaching and Training for you and your family dog, and am based out of Northwood, NH but am able to offer services far beyond NH.

The dog training industry is an unregulated one and one where anyone can call themselves a trainer and charge for their services. It's important to me that I went through accreditation both so that I could feel good about offering my services and so that I could feel that I am staying up to date on the most recent studies and educational opportunities offered. As a positive trainer who uses humane and force free methods, I pride myself on being able to meet dogs and dog parents where they're at and work only within their comfort zone, so as to not add more stress to anyone's life.

I'm also a self-proclaimed "behavior nerd", with a love for teaching, podcast-obsessed, a mom of two human children, a wife, a creative entrepreneur, a community networker, a social introvert, and a lifetime learner. I am constantly seeking and implementing ways to teach you how to better your life with your four-legged companion, in a way that supports your learning style and your dog's needs.
If you struggle with the day-to-day understanding of your dog and need to find ways to make life with your dog good for both of you so your relationship can blossom, I would love to help. I hope to be part of you and your dog's team!

Dog Tutoring Program Options
Happier Handling Program: Tutored Version
Picture
Dogs who struggle at the Vet often need help building their confidence and learning happier handling skills. They also could use field trips to the Vet for happy visits and practice sessions.

If you would like your dog to feel better about going to the Vet but you don’t have time to get there during their normal business hours, then this would be a great option for you!

This program boosts your dog's confidence at the vet, introduces consent games, and provides management tips and tricks for your next vet visit. I will also be working collaboratively with your Vet team to establish future visit plans.

Learn more about how I approach Vet Prep here. This program is similar to the all virtual program but caters more to dogs who needs more in-person help and practice.

Puppy Socialization & Exploration
Picture
This program is great for puppies who need appropriate socialization opportunities, confidence building, and life skills. This program includes in-home tutoring and field trips (where and when appropriate). This program does not include free play with other dogs or trips to the dog park. Good puppy socialization is much more about quality than quantity.

Puppies are better off learning to feel confident passing by other dogs and people and only greeting when appropriate and upon invitation. We might practice settling in public, walking by cars, moving through puddles, visiting safe dog-friendly indoor locations, slow exposure to sounds and sensations, and more.

This is all dependent on your puppies age, vaccination status and individual personality. No two plans will ever look the same.

Confidence Building and Enrichment
Picture
This program is designed for dogs who are a bit more on the shy/reactive side. As long as your dog forms a good relationship with me early on, this plan can be great for giving your dog appropriate opportunities to build confidence and learn some life skills along the way. We would start by building up some skills at home and in the yard and then begin to consider whether your dog is ready to go out and about for field trips, within his comfort zone. My priority will always be your dog's comfort so he will be the one to set the pace.

We might work on boosting confidence through pattern games, tricks, confidence-boosting play, enrichment and we will also likely work on desensitization to appropriate triggers.

It's important to understand that this program isn't about making your dog like the things he currently doesn't. It is about helping him learn to cope and move towards neutral. It will also be important to be prepared to pivot at any point towards more family sessions, vet care, management protocols, etc.
No two programs will look the same.
Dogs aggressive to visitors or people will not be appropriate for this program until that behavior is addressed.

Investment:
10 Sessions: $1600*
15 Sessions: $2200*
6 Brush-Up Sessions: $1050*

*2-Part Payment Plan available
This program is not good for:
  • Dogs with clinical separation anxiety, unless you will be home before and after my arrival. This could be good if you need to run a few errands and need a way to occupy and work with your dog while you're gone.
  • Dogs who are timid or reactive with strangers. While it may be a possibility in the near future, it will be important to start with multiple family sessions and to have you work on confidence building skills in between.
  • Someone looking for a quick fix. Think of this as a complement to the training, enrichment, and management you still need to do. This program is meant to remove some of the burden from your plate and give your dog an opportunity for enrichment and learning while you’re at work or on the go.
Dog Tutoring Program: How it works
Session 1: Virtual Goal-Setting Session
During this hour-long virtual session, we will discuss your dog’s history and behavior, talk about your family’s goals, and plan out prevention and management skills to get started with right away.
Session 2: In-Home Introduction Session
During this session, I’ll have an opportunity to meet your dog to be sure he’s comfortable with me, see your home environment, and get you started with skills to work on between tutoring sessions.

If your dog already knows and is comfortable with me, you can trade this out for an extra tutoring session.
Dog Tutoring Sessions:
During a Dog Tutoring Session, I will come to your home and dog and we’ll work 1on1 together. I’ll be teaching the skills we plan out during our first 2 sessions and giving your dog play and enrichment in between.
Family Transfer Sessions:
Depending on the skills and goals of each individual dog and family, we will have family transfer sessions throughout the Tutoring program so I can be sure you are able to carry out the skills being taught.
Extra Perks Included:
  • Invitation to the Telegram App for private messaging and updates between sessions.
  • A google drive folder to house videos taken during the sessions, as well as homework and handouts.
  • Video lessons that pertain to skills we’re working on.
  • Access to my Private Facebook Group for community support.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What if I purchase the program and then find out my dog isn’t appropriate for dog tutoring yet?

Sometimes dogs are too nervous of strangers or too worried about separation from their people. Although rare, it is a possibility. You will then have the option to continue with family sessions (virtually or in-person) and the other perks of the program until your dog is more comfortable. If you decide that you are unable to continue with the program because you would be required to attend most or all of the sessions, I will offer a refund if notified within 7 days of the introduction session. The refund will be pro-rated (meaning that you will not be refunded for the first 2 sessions).
What if I have more than one dog?

You have options. If you would like me to work with multiple dogs, we can split the session in half so each dog gets about 30 minutes per session. Alternatively, you can add on a second dog at 50% off, which will turn into two back to back 45-minute sessions.

If you have multiple dogs at home but we are only working on the behavior of one dog, the other dog will need to be crated or gated during my time with the dog I’m there for. We can come up with a plan for this during the first 2 sessions.

What if my dog needs training out in public?
I love to take field trips! In this case, I’ll pick your dog up and we’ll head out to appropriate locations for your dog, following the training plan!
What locations do you serve?
I travel to locations within 30 minutes of Northwood, NH. If further, I will consider this on a case-by-case basis, with an additional travel fee.
What days/times do you offer?

Tutoring happens Mon, Tues, Thu between 8:30-2pm. My weekend and evening availability is extremely limited so those who are able to meet for occasional family sessions during daytime hours will be a better fit right now.
What if I don't see a program that quite fits what my dogs needs?
No two programs are alike so while I will be very particular about the types of cases that are appropriate for this type of training, your case may be one of them. Simply reach out via email or fill out the application below
